how to reset computer?

i was just wondering how to reset the computer on my 87 4runner, cause my check engine light is on because the engine had a cracked head then i replace the engine and it is annoying but i don't wan't to just unplug it. :dunno:
87 runner, 4" trailmaster lift, 33" TSL/SX, 5.29's V6 e-locker, 22re that cost too much

Or just pull out the efi fuse for 30 seconds

what code is it flashing?
72 FJ40. 350 Multiport EFI, turbo 400, ORION T-case, 35 Procomp's  disk brakes front & rear, ARB's F&R and an onboard shower for the ladies!

Pull the battery terminals an put them together, for about 10 seconds. Now if your going to smog it you need to put a few mile on it before so cause the computer has certain checkpoints that it has to reach a read about how the vehicle is operating, No if these check points have not been checked yet by the time you take it get it smogged it will not pass. But because your is older I don't know but that's how it works on cars that are OBD2
