Keep spreading the word.  :thumbs: Please also send a letter to your local member of Congress. It doesn't matter if you live in California. Duncan Hunter is on the Armed Services Committee and likely pushing this issue. I wrote to good ol wally herger, just kept it short and to the point without getting all emotional:

Hello,
  It has been brought to my attention that the military is looking to expand it's use of the Johnson Valley area into what is now the OHV use area.  I also hear they have the option to train at existing DOD facilities in the area to mitigate the loss in Johnson Valley  (yea, I copied that part :thumbs: ).  As somebody who's watched more and more of the areas I've off-roaded in my 32 years be blocked off or severely resitricted, I can only think that the reasonable and logical options is the latter of the two. 

  Please help the ever growing off-roading community from further clogging what few areas we have.  The fewer places we have to go, the more drastic our impact will be on each, which will inevitably result in ALL legal OHV areas being closed.

Talking points:

The recent Western Mojave Resource Management Plan identifies Johnson Valley and Stoddard Wells as recreation areas. There are no other options for that type of recreation in the southern California desert as all other areas have been designated wilderness or military reserve and off-limits to the public.

The loss of recreation would have a significant economic impact on the surrounding rural communities; an impact that would not be replaced by military activity.

The proposal calls for acquisition of private lands. That acquisition would remove private lands from the local property tax base causing serious economic impact in the surrounding rural communities; an impact that is not mitigated by increased government support to the local economy.
