Everyone knows the 3.0 V6 is not the king of the horsepower dept. so can anyone reccomend any of those aftermarket intake kits for a performance boost, or is it just like something else to dump money into for no good reason.

Depends on how you define worth it.

It's never going to be fast.  Can you make it better? yes.  You would get more acceration and torque by putting some gears in that thing.  That's what I would do, regear it and call it good.  Then it would work better off road too.

What gears/tires do you have?

Stock exhaust is pretty shoddy too, if you can, dump the cat, if not, keep it, and run a straight pipe, or a high flow muffler back from it.  Headers would really help too, but those are REALLY pricey for the 3.0 from what I've seen.  The collector is a terrible design, creates a lot of heat and turbulence where the exhaust comes together.
