I'm looking for a shell for my 1985 x-cab short bed PU. I don't have a ton of money. Thanks.

i got the top off of a 86 4runner(black).  it fits, but there is about a 3in. gap at the top of the cab between the shell and cab when its on there.  in perfect shape. just thought i'd throw it out there.  $100, come get it.

Thanks, sorry no. Besides your to far. I guess I should ask that the pick up be relatively close to Stockton. I could make exceptions.
I might have to settle for a reg-cab shell.

I thought a short bed was a short bed. I got my shell from a 90 something x-cab and put it on my 85 reg cab. Fit perfectly.

X-cabs have a slant to the back of the cab and reg-caps are almost vertical. I was under the impression that anything 86 and newer was to wide. Am I wrong?

Well the one I have came off of a 3rd gen, and it is the right width. It fits like it was made for my truck. I have since moved the shell foward a bit, but other than that, it looks like this. (No I was not high centered)

nice shell. If 3rd gen work, I can find one easy. I still would like to know the dimensions of the 3rd gen beds.

You might want to test it before you buy it. I measured mine probably ten times before I bought it to make sure it would fit correctly.

I took dimemsions and my bed is 76x59in on the outer edge.
