87 Transfer Case

Will an 87 T-case from a carb motor work alright in my stock 82.

are you talking as a stock replacement or for dual cases ?

just fine if you change the shift rods.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

It will work as WT mentioned if you change both shift rods and the low range shift fork, but be sure to use your 82 T/case gasket because 84+ transfercases are slightly taller and use a larger gasket that will not work on your L-series transmission..
