Topic: 4 Runner Dual Case Help!!

My friend has an 85 Runner with dual cases, and he cant get the front transfer case to go into H2 while the back case will shift into all spots, basically we just are wondering if there is a different shift pattern something, he says that he can shift it to the side of H4 and he was able to drive. If anyone can offer any guidance it would be greatly appreciated as this is the first dual case setup in our experience. thanks

Front case is only a hi/lo box...hi range in the rear, low range up front.

So is it okay to drive the back case in 4lo and the front in 4hi? If I understand correctly then the back case dictates whether you are in 4lo, 4hi, or 2wd, and then the front case is just multiplying the gears right? Thanks for all the help

yes, that is correct.  Try using the forums search feature.  It works very well, and this question has been asked 1000 times.
