7MGE Time! Clutch & Fuel Delivery Questions.
« on: Nov 03, 2007, 10:47:22 PM »
Well, my 22r died.  On Thursday it started to have rod knock and lost oil pressure on the freeway.  So instead of rebuilding it I think it is time for a 7MGE swap.  I should have done this this spring when I did the clutch but for some reason reasonability won over, so the 22r went back.  I was wondering, can I use the computer for a Supra with an auto in my '84 Runner with a manual?  Will I have to connect the harness differently, get the computer for a manual, or do nothing at all?  The reason I ask is because I plan on getting an imported long block and pulling parts (intake, exaust, computer, harness, pulleys, ect.) off of a friends blown 7MGE to make it a complete engine.  The only problem is that the car that I would get the parts from is an automatic, so the computer would be wrong (I think).  There will probably be more questions later so thanks for any help.

So...what do I have to do?  Many of the engines available do not have computers with them at all, and If I want that stuff it costs way too much, which is pointless because I can get it locally for cheap.  You said that the tranny has its own computer, so does that mean they completely seperate or are they interlinked?

Alright, the 7mge swap might be back on (although a rebuilt 22r is still possible).  I managed to find a bellhousing and a flywheel (used) for a supra but I still need to figure out the clutch.  I thought that I could use the clutch from a 22r but I want to confirm that before I spend any money.  I have a almost new Marlin clutch and would like to use that if possible instead of buying another clutch.  Also, do I need the flywheel off of the 7mge or can I use the one from my 22r?  I also need to figure out fuel delivery for this engine.  Can I adapt the fuel pump out of a 1990 V6 'Runner to do this?  I know it won't put out enough if I put a turbo on it but will it feed a stock 7mge?

you can mount a W series trans right to the block of the supra motor with the supra manual bell housing
you think nobody cares about you? try missing a couple of car payments.
