Backspacing is the amount that the wheel is spaced away from the hub mounting surface (the center of the wheel), measured from the back side of the wheel. For example, if a wheel had 0 inches of backspacing it's inside bead would sit flush with the hub (looking down vertically on the wheel). Basically the larger the number the more the wheel sticks in. So the one with 4'' backspacing would sit in 1/4'' more than the one with 3.75'' backspacing. If you don't get what I mean go to
