I'm gonna thread jack real quick, but what do people do with dmv and their insurance?  If the vehicle comes up as a 2wd, has anybody run into issues with either?

My first stop would be the local DMV. You can ask them about an idea, and what you would have to do to make the build legal. next would be to do the same with your insurance agent. They can provide you with details that will affect you if you are ever caught trying to slip one past them.

When I replaced my 92 2wd with my 93 4wd, my insurance cost actually went down.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

yeah i asked the local cop about it, because our dmv only comes once every two months. and he said that they would just have to blend the two titles together... dont know if thats true but i have to wait till next thurs to find out! :beerchug:

Yea, that's an option.... or you could just do it legal from the get go and not have to be constantly looking over your shoulder

I think I have to go in tomorrow and renew my insurance at AAA, so I may as well ask them, then hit the dmv counter and see what they say.

if it's anything like in CA you convert it, and go to the referee who will approve or deny it. if the latter is the case, you will be informed as to what is deficient in your conversion. CHP inspection may also apply depending on the referee.

at least that's what we did to my buddy's Dakota. :twocents:
