3RZ Fuel Filter
« on: Jul 04, 2007, 10:20:05 AM »
Ok has anyone replaced theirs, cause I am gonna do mine but getting to it is looking to be a huge pain. Will removing the driver side tire and mud flaps get me to it?

I don't know about mud flaps, but removing that inner fender liner would be a good idea - and dont forget to pinch off the soft line comming out of the tank so all your gas doesn't siphon out.

Well, what I am about to type really might not apply to you :headshake:

I have replaced mine twice, but I have a 1" body lift and a different cab than you, most likely (my 3RZ is in a 1981 Hilux).

I can very easily access and replace my fuel filter without removing my tire, without lifting my truck with a jack, without removing any fender liner, and with standard hand tools. The first time I replaced it, my motor was mostly stock and I had no trouble at all, but the second time I replaced it, it was a PITA to reconnect the outlet line to the new filter because the TRD Supercharger has less room for the outlet line to run between its manifold to the fuel rail.

:dunno:

Its not that bad, you dont have to remove anything. Take about 20 min.

The easiest way to get at it is to remove the intake manifold.

FYI, the 2rz / 3rz fuel filter is a "lifetime" part, meaning that it SHOULD be good for the life of the engine...

translation, dont bother replacing it unless you're having fuel delivery issues, or you have the engine out've the vehicle.
