Topic: Pitbull Rocker Tire thread

I know BigMike and several other have been running the Rockers for some time now.  But I haven't heard anything else from them?  How are they wearing?  Would you buy them again?

I'm considering the 37/13.50/15 Rockers on a 10" wide 2.5" backspaced wheel.  I am also considering the Staun intertube beadlocks since I can't beadlock the reversed shell wheels.

I run the 37" Rockers on 15x10 Allied aluminum beadlocks. It is an exception bias ply tire. The traction is great, sidewalls have proven to be very tough. The only downside is they are so wide, I wished Pitbull would make taller, slightly narrower tires more like the Interco lines of TSLs and Iroks. Having said that, the width has helped, especially in Moab. The traction the rockers provided was unreal.

I have about 10 runs on the tires, including a trip to Moab from PHX. Drove the truck there on the tires, 4wheeled 4 days straight and drove it home.

In the rocks the tires have been wearing very well. Chunking is not an issue and they are wearing fairly slow from 4wheeling. The wear pattern is much better than Iroks, from my experience.

I would not recommend these tires be used on a vehicle that sees alot of street use. They will wear very quick. The rubber is fairly soft and they are not a good street tire. They do drive OK on road but again, I dont recommend it if you want to get any life out of the tires.

If you put them on 15x10 wheels, better make sure you beadlock them. Otherwise get 15x8 wheels.

BigMike has posted many times, including a trip report or two with videos on his impressions of the tires. Do a search. Also, there has been many posts and reports about these tires on Pirate as well. Search there...

RE - widow maker video, yeah the strap was just put there in case I didnt make it, as was the case on the first attempt and I did a big wheelie trying to back off - had to pull the front pass. side down to make sure truck didnt flop.

Thanks Westy.  How well did the Pitbulls balance out?  Do you run internal weight like BB's or airsoft in them or standard rim weights?

I tried using the chart on the innovative balance website that BigMike used. I installed the corresponding amount of air soft pellets, and while it helped, it was only a partial solution. At about 35mph the tires get way out of balance, but below and above that they are OK up to 65mph.

The correct way to balance is put them on a balancing machine, find the ounces needed for each tire/wheel combo and add that amount of pellets, bbs or whatever you choose to use. I will be doing this soon.

Whats the biggest tire Pitbull Rocker makes?

I knew someone that ran them on there DD f250 and seemed to like them a lot. Ive been looking at them for my 82.

the rubber compound is too soft for daily driving on the street unless your rich and like to buy new tires all the time.

Call them - they have great customer service. I have talked to them extensively about making 33x10.50 for our trucks and Jeeps - a size very underrepresented in the market. I really believe that they would do it if enough people call that they see how big the market is.
