82 Toyota Box Question
« on: Jun 03, 2007, 06:59:35 AM »
I've got a quick question in regards to the beds on 82 trucks.
Are the 2wd and 4wd boxes any different in design or looks?

ok here is the pics.... the red bed is a 4x4 bed (it is bobbed though)
the black and white pic, is a stock 2wd bed...

its a bit hard to tell, but the 2wd bed edges are smooth.....

the 4x4 bed has a step in it because that is usually covered by the stock flares

let me know if this doenst make sense

this better explains the 4x4 bed, in addition to the red one above... there is a step in the wheel well arch at the front and back of the well @ the body line channel, also the 4x4 bed has holes around the wheelwell

the 2wd doesnt have that step, or the holes in the arch

I see what you mean.
I think with the fenders on it trimmed and the fact that the bed will be bobbed and dove tailed, don't think it will matter much.

yeah they look a little different right at the arch, but mechanically they are the same... no worries if you are going to hack up a 2wd bed for a 4x4, lol
