Check Engine light
« on: May 17, 2007, 09:17:27 AM »
I have a 93 3.0 v6 that when at idle at startup the check engine light stays out, but when you drive it the light come on.  The engine runs smooth.  The only thing that I have noticed is that the rpm is around 1500.  It normaly is around 1000 rpm.  Thank You, Rob

Under the hood, open the black thing near the fender.  Jump the TE1 to E1 with a paperclip.  Turn all things off, put key in ON mode.  Count the number of times the light flashes and look it up as ECU codes/ EFI codes on google.

:yesnod: by black thing he means the diagnostics box (about 1.5" x1") that is next to the engine bay fuse box on the passenger side fender.

Problem still there.  I cannot use my check engine light because the problem goes away when I turn the key off.  That is the light goes out and stays off for a while.  If I am going down the roadand the light being on, and turn the key off and back on it goes out.  What would cause a problem like that?

If it were a short, it may or may not go off with the key or reset while going down the road or trail.  Still looking.
