Hey, I did that same thing. Still want to know the answer...well, I guess I'll share..
The shifters will line up, although first and second gear will put the shifter right next to your leg-it's comfy though in a way, and any lanky friends in the passenger seat will have enough leg room so you don't have to push them out of the way to get 5th gear. There are some mild difs in gearing, and supposedly the 52 is a little weaker, but other than that, the only real difference you'll notice is the strange shifter position that requires you to cut a smidge out from the front of the original hole-or at least that's how my bucket seated 4runner was, if you have the bench seat that the 52 was designed for, you might be able to avoid cutting. And its not much cutting at that. :driving:

Oh, you'll need a marlin shift knob, it's much more comfortable in the thumbs up position that makes the 52 more comfy in the hand when you're rowin the gears.

Since the G52 was made for a bench seat truck, and the W56 was made for a bucket seat truck, the trans and t/case handles will be about 2" forward.

You will need the G52 trans handle as well, it is a difference style and will be aiming toward the passenger. (Your W56 trans handle aims toward the driver). So your factory boot will not work, unless you find a 89-95' G58, W56, or R150F trans handle, or cut and weld what you have to make it fit in the factory boot.

Both trans are 25" long :greengrin:

So If I have an 8422r with bucketseats, which trans do I have g52 or w56?

It's a forward shift so I must have the g52.  but if it were a top shift it would be a w56, right?

All 84-88 carb trucks use the G, 4 1/2" forward shifting trans.
84-85 wimpy G52, 85-88 G54, better.

W56's are only found behind the 85-95 efi motors and were made in two styles;
Top shift; 85-88 p/up, 85-89 4 runners
4" Forward shift; 89-95 p/up, 90-95 4 runners.

Great answer Big Mike :dunno:

However, the question was about a R150F, but you posted a pic of a R151F with a 4.31:1 first gear.

"I've met Marlin, and your no Marlin"  thanks brainless fool
