2wd steering box
« on: Mar 09, 2007, 01:49:00 PM »
I have an 82 truck and am looking to do crossover steering and went to the junkyard today. I found a 90 4runner 2WD with all the steering stuff intact but was once told that you cant use a 2wd box cause its not as strong (or something like that) but if I'm not mistaken the 90 is one that will work (has three mounting bolts) and is the same as the 4wd. could someone clarify for me please?

I know that the 2wd boxes from 86-? wont work because they mount with 2 bolts but this one from a 1990 runner looks the same as the 4wd with the 3 mounting bolts. so i dont know

If I'm not mistaken the 4runners sport the same suspension system that the 4wds do. This would include the steering. The only thing missing on them is the tcase and front axle assembly.
