wiper motor arms
« on: Feb 18, 2007, 10:40:58 AM »
Anybody know where I can get windshield wiper motor arm bushings for a 81 pickup 4wd?  These are the arms in the cowl connecting the motor to the pivots on the outside.  One of the bushings is broken and the rest are dry and cracked-four total, two big and two small.  I'm not sure if you can just replace the bushings or if you have to buy the entire aluminum arms.  Dealer???  Any info will be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks!!

I'm guessing you haven't actually tried calling the dealer yet since you're asking if they carry them.  Definately try the dealer, but you may also be able to find them at napa/kragen/autozone, but you need to actually call them

Did you call the dealer?  Suprisingly they still have alot of stuff for 1st gen's. Maybe a later or different model will fit.  I remember a guy who got some bronze and made bushings from scratch,or try a bearing supplier they also sell bushings maybe you can get close to the size you need.

Just took it apart to see what happened today-dealer is closed.  Will definitely try them tomorrow.  Thanks for the quick replies!

These are actually the plastic pieces that are broken that the round metal bushing snap into.  Guess you would call the whole unit the motor linkage?  Does anyone know if the plastic is replacable?

Checked with the dealer today-part is no longer available.  It comes as a whole assembly (if available) and costs $222 Wow!  The part# is 85160-8117.  If you guys have any other suggestions, please let me know.  Im going to check online oem parts sites in the meantime.  Thanks!

i had a similar issue, normally the part number will no longer be available, but the dealer should have a suitable substitution part for that now. you shouldn't have to buy the whole assembly. they are probably shady. call another dealer and ask them...that my opinion, next option would be junkyard
88 turd SAS with some "stuff" under it.
