I want to do everything on this right the first time if I can, so I am planning ahead, and finding everything out that I can before I install the stuff...

Oops...lol
Truck: 1985 EFI 4cyl Toyota pickup 4x4
Plans (in order):
Fiberglass front fenders, bedsides, and custom bed and paint job
High cut fenders for added clearance
Interior redecoration done while exterior repairs as well as roll cage
                             Exterior or Interior cage??
5" Skyjacker kit with Johnny Joints (All Pro) or 5" Orbit Eye custom kit
What else do I need besides springs, brake lines, and drag link
3" Body lift with new crossmember and adapter to raise trans case
How do BL affect steering column and does the adapter work?
What else do I need to worry about when doing a BL?
dual trans case setup, plan to get complete adapter and 4.7 gears, I also will probably change my diff gears to 4.88 and get a detroit front and lockrite rear

**just wondering if the driveshafts will be ok if I wait until i do the dual setup...I don't want to get new ones for the suspension and then later having to replace them again for the dual trans case setup...

haven't started, just finding info to buy everything and do most at once so I don't have my truck down too long, and if I can prevent screwing something up or doing it more than once, I'd like too...lol

Dang youre planning on spending a chunk arent ya?  That sounds like a pretty good list of mods.  Whether or not your fenders will survive all depends on how seriously you plan on crawling.  Id stick with a interior cage considering you are using it as a DD.  On the suspension deal I like to use Junkyard stuff (I work at one!)  but aor makes some killer stuff!  I would get stainless lines for your brakes and crossover steering!  A dropped draglink will NOT have enough travel for the type of suspension you are talking about.  I have a BL on my 84 its not too bad there isnt a lot of stuff you need to worry about just take all the rubber covers out of your wheelwells so you can see if anything is getting stretched. Like fuel lines, brake lines etc.  the transfer case setup will be the easiest thing to do according to your list.  What gears you use will depend on the tire size you choose.  On the driveline issue Id do the cases at the same time as the lift so that everything matches.  You can get away with the stock drivelines with just the lift but you will be pulling your front one apart a lot!  just dont get too extreme and it should be fine.  Im not so sure about the detroitin the front it seems that everytime someone busts a birf they kill a detroit.  The lockrite in the rear Im not so sure about either.  If I was doing it Id spool the rear and put a l/c high pinion e-locker in the front, but thats just me.
Good luck on whatever you decide to do and lets see some pics of progress!

Welcome Noob. Sounds like you got deep pockets and a lot of work ahead of you. And if your pockets are really deep go with the orbits instead of the skyjacker. You will be much happier.  As for you fiberglass,  You might want to think of an exo to protect them depending on how serious you get, but then again you said its a DD . And worse case if you do your lift without duals in you might have to do your front driveline. That should only run about $50.00 at a shop. Well keep us posted and have fun

as far as the fiberglass I would steer clear, but that only my opinion. it is spendy and there is a hell of a lot more you could do. specialy with your pcokets

also I would go out and get some decent 31" tires leave it open front and rear and go out wheelin as much as possible. It will make you a better driver and will deffinately change your opinion on how you go about buildin your rig

I do want to keep the fiberglass, and my partner in fabrication has done cages and he likes exos better, plus they look badass anyway, so I may go with an exo...still in debate

As for suspension, I'm still kicking around some ideas with the johnny joints and superlift kit...hell of a lot cheaper, anyone have experience with the johnny joints??

I have also been looking at the All Pro Offroad extreme lift kit, seems steep, but it has everything I need, anyone try it out??

Forgot to mention the crossover steering, yeah definately will do that, along with U-Bolt flip and Shock relocation, anyone know if the spherical ends are legal in Ohio??...lol

The dual case is a little in the future...like maybe a year or so, along with the new cases marlin is working on...those things rock, so im gonna wait to do the drivelines unless i get some slip ones,

I dunno, can you get a driveshaft that would slip enough to change your transfer case down the road??

hay bud my friend has the all pro kit and it rocks i cant wait tell i can aford the aor kit to see how they match up. about the lockers i would put that detroit in the rear and an ARB up front thats how i got mine done mines an 85 runner and the lift thing I have about 5in lift on mine and i had to get my front drive line done it cost me 60 cash at the local drive line shop it was nothing spectacular but i could wheel my ride. those finders look good but would be costly to replace if broken I wanted to get them when i got my first 4x4 but now when i can afford to do my exocage im pulling them off and running the cage there insted. just remember to do what you whant and good luck on doing it right the first time i tryed it its hard to do.Lets see some pics HAPPY WHEELIN

I plan on moving this bumper up front, and I have a different custom, hollow bumper for the rear that is air tight, my way of a cheap compressor...lol
