Ignition problem need help
« on: Feb 17, 2007, 03:18:52 PM »
Im workin on getting my 85 runner runnin since last time I took it out it died on me. Its has a 22re in it. I have fuel up to the rail I know that for sure. Dont know if my injectors are firing or not but I think they are. I have spark, but this is where I found one of the problems. The spark is constantly on from the coil. I can pull the wire from the coil to the distributor and ground it and it will just keep arcing. Also my tach reads a constant 3k rpm. I started unpluggin connections and found that if I unplug the wire from the distributor it will stop arcing but the tach will still read at 3k. If I unplug the 3 prong plug that I think comes from the ecu nothing happens still arcs and reads at 3k. If I unplug the 2 prong plug that goes to the driver fender wiring its stops arcing and the tach reads zero. I dont know what the two prong plug goes to so that one things I need to find out. The other is what do you guys think my problem is? Bad coil, igniter, or something else? Electrical is just not my thing so any help would be great.
