W56 Tranny 1st to 2nd shifting rough
« on: Nov 30, 2006, 01:42:05 PM »
I swapped a W56 into my 84 4Runner when I did the 22RE swap.  The tranny has unknown mileage on it (180,000??) and shifts rough from 1-2 but fine from 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-4, 4-3, 3-2, and 2-1.  Basically it shifts fine except the 1-2 shift.  Would Redline MT-90 help that out?

Thanks  :turtle:

Always the 1st, easiest, cheapest with any toy tranny with a shift seat is to pull the shifter and see if that shift seat is still there.  If that's torn apart or missing, it can cause awful shifting.

Good advice!  I forgot to say that I've replaced the seat when I did the swap.  My bad.
