3 link tubing recommendation
« on: Oct 20, 2006, 04:34:22 PM »
I have purchased the parts and materials to do a four link with track bar to my 82 toy. How ever I am considering making it a 3 link instead. I am wondering if the 2" tubing with 1/4" walls will work fine. I am interested in hearing opinions from those that have done this.

I haven't linked my truck yet but from all the research I've ever done on it 2"x.250" for lowers is par for the course. Why do you want to switch to a 3 link w/a panhard? gas tank clearance issues with a traingulated 4 link?  if thats the case check out how Rollie did his on his 86 with the tank in the stock location.

The rear is getting a a triangulated four link. It is up front where I am thinking 3 link. I will post pictures when I do my build up thread.

I checked out Rollie's build. Nice.

I maybe naming the front suspension wrong. I thinking of one arm on each side of the frame and as it goes to the axle it "Y's" off. Than the track bar to center the axle.

I went with 1 1/2" dom with 1/2" wall.. now i'm thinking I should have went bigger. I'm going to end up probably sleeving it bigger or just jumping to 2" w/ 3/4" wall

i've slightly bent my front driver lower link w/ all the weight on the rock just stomping it, turning left and right. so far its held up....

R.I.P to my Papa, I miss you pops......
