Hey Subaru Peeps!
« on: Aug 23, 2006, 07:43:39 PM »
Aight...so my DD, parts hauler is a 1998 Forester with ta 2.5 and a 5-speed.  Great car, but at 104,000 miles I am having some wear and tear issues.  My clutch is original and it slippity slip slip slips.  How much it cost to replace one?  Are there any good aftermarket brands that could save me some $$ over a factory replacement.  Also, my shifter is loosy goosy, has been since I bought it 10,000 miles ago.  Do they have a seat like the toyotas that wears out?  Can this be unloosied?

Thanks for ta infos!

you cAn get a factory wrx clutch, it bolts right on and is supposed to be 30% stronger
as for the loose shifter, theer are bushings that wear out that you can replace. but the ultimate replacment or cure is to get a short shift kit for a wrx or sti, it again, bolts right in and will help immensly!!

tip; any part made for a wrx or wrx sti will fit your forester, (a few exceptions)

goos luck and happy subaboobing! :beerchug:

Got lots of this junk sitting in lock up at work, too bad we can't touch them yet or I'd send you a clutch out of a WRX.

Let me know, I am not in a hurry, just thinking it might be time.  Should do brakes first, more importanter.

It's an ongoing case, been almost 2 yrs now. Have all kinds of Soooobie parts including a few complete WRX's we busted up a chop shop for them and have all kinds of stuff all on evidence hold until the case is over. It may be 6 more mos. before they finish.

ya buddy!! lots of people sell stock wrx 16 inch wheels so that they can put pimpy ones on!

just look, they are everywhere, other than that-call local tire shops, ask if they have used wheels, all subaru except the 05 sti will work. vw wheels fit and are nice, basically any 5x100 llug pattern.

2002 forester wheels are sweet, and 16 inch. i have a badass set of wheels you can have cheap, but they are 15s, stock subaru turbos made by enkei.....but i think that you have to run 16s

I will have to look later...I wanted something nice, but I do not want to even give off the appearance of rice.

I took a look and the steelies are indeed 15's.  You have any better pics of the wheels, perhaps on a vehicle for perspective?

this is the only pic i can find of the wheels and the car, it has 18s now

i was asking 200.00 for the set with a set on federal all season tires

this is a great deal because these wheels where only made for 1 year, and 1858 sets where produced
i guess shipping would be a pain though...ill check into it

Yeah, the zip is 67207...my guess is shipping would put them over the "worth it" limit.
I will look around though for some used wheels.

shipping is about 30.00 each, so 120.00 for all four, so that would be 320.00 total

good luck man

Yeah, that prob is something you could sell easier local.  It isn't real urgent for me so I will look around some.  Only thing I want NOW is to fix the shifter up.
