I'm trying to find some teflon strips for mine, the greese idea just seams too messy
I'd like to quit thinking of the present as some minor insignificant preamble to something else~~~~~

That's a cool idea.
If it doesn't work, you can alway drill a hole in the outer tube and tap it for a zirk fitting. Then you can easily grease it anytime.

I put 4 zerks on mine (one on each side) and tore them all off except one on the first trip.....i hadn't even greased it yet.   The grease is kind of messy, but no biggy really.

I would suggest using nylocks on driveshaft bolts, because your shaft will probabaly wobble a bit, and when the grease starts to work out, the bolts will probabaly try to come loose.

I don't grease mine anymore.  I kind of like the melodious clacking sound it makes when it spins .....i always know when the hubs are unlocked or it is in 4WD

Here's a link to my shaft writeup, just for reference.  Built it a few years back and then built one for a guy on this board, but he never gave me an update on how it works.

Lowriders are for guys who can't get it up!!!

How big is the gap you're trying to fill?

I guess I don't got some good eye...it still looks wrong to me. I'd say it was the angle, but I think it's my demographic!

i had an un capped front that was good till about 45mph then it started to vibrate slightly, but only became anoying at about 55, so it can be done, just take your time and weld it together in a vise so it moves less :beerchug:
