4runner bumper help
« on: May 22, 2006, 09:41:25 PM »
I was just reading a post and i believe that it said if you have a body lift, than a production bumper will not fit on the truck... :-\ :-\
I have a 1990 4runner, with a 5 1/2 suspension and 3 inch body lift, and i was hoping to get the Marlin crawler rear bumper to throw on the back...so is this possible or are there modifications that need to be done??

Any help would be great, thanks

the bumper will still fit its just gona be three inches lower than the tail gate. you would have to make a new mounting bracket so it will sit at the correct level under the tail gate.

I would say yes to both questions.  It definitely won't look like a clean install and you're going to unnecessarily hurt your departure angle by letting it sit 3 inches low.

Holy crap...can you see god from up there?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

if you are serious about gettign the bumper, contact them and see if they can build a provision for it, most companies that do custom bumpers can make their bumpers work with a bodylift

When I did my bodylift on my 86 4Runner I used a bumper for a pickup truck. They mount higher than the bumper for the 4Runner's, if this is true for the later years too you may only have to figure out something for the sides.
