best cheap tricks for your sami
« on: Feb 04, 2006, 12:35:43 AM »
alright, ive noticed a definite lull here...i know alot of people have some great cheap tricks, so lets hear em. a couple of my favorites...zip ties the front signals and the grill, i removed mine from the bumper to make way for the new one, and just zip tied em to the back of the grill. another one is cutting the stock door hinges to make the doors removable in a hurry, i believe its the bottom portion of the hinge that needs to be sliced off in order to do this. anyway, post em if ya got em   :flamer:

Most of the stuff I do is cheap!!  Installing a thumb throttle using a bicycle gear selector and cable.  Five-point harnesses are cheap if you pick up an expired set off of ebay ($30 a piece).

And I went one further on the zip ties, I zip tied my plates on front and rear. :gap:

ok this is really cheap but it works

after doin a spring over you need extended brake lines, just cut the metal flange that mounts them to the frame

my sami is still runnin with no hassles on the front and i have had it this way for 2 years haha

or if your running the strock 1.3 you can take a exhaust manifold off a 1.6(from a tracker or sidekick) and it will bolt right up and give you better flow

I think my hole rig is a cheap trick, I did a toy axle swap, I took the first 10" or so of a toy frame and welded it to the front of the sammy frame, rear toy springs up front, marlin high steer(I did buy a fiew things), toy power steering, 2wd toy leafs in the rear, 529 r&p with a grs 2 from petro, 37mtr's, about a 95

Hopefully I'll get my twin stick done this weekend.  It'll cost only $15 for the spare shifter from Powerstroken.

1st gen toy drive shaft fits in the rear with a little adapting(I bought the adapters from rockrat on PBB $70) and maybe some wheelbase ajustment(I redrilled spring pads)

If you, want to save money on brake lines go to the junk yard and get 3 or 6 toyota rear brake lines, (same trick as on toyotas because they are female on one end and male on the other you can stack as many as you need)
Liquor up front
Poker in the rear
