There is one other style thats has good clamping force but  I can find a pic, but basically you build a hing on one side and then can either flush mount the bolts or do the flan that was shown earlier....   I dont know that it would be any easier to build though..

Here's a pic of my new tie rod after my first trip out with Hydro Assist.  Both jam nuts loosened (need to tack them also) and my tie rod rotated down.  In the process of rotating down, my bracket made contact with the U-Bolt plate before the ram was fully extended.  I didn't even notice but here's the result.



Make sure you have enough space for the ram to fully extend, even in flexed out situations.  The nice part was I didn't break a TRE (no spares), break or bend my knuckle studs (no spares in my toolbox that day), or break the bracket (my welds held up  ). 

I'm not sure if the tack welds are nessesary but I didn't want the pinch bracket to slip so a couple of tacks for insurance.  It's not hard to grind off the tacks if need be.

That was a pretty sweet bend you put in TR....  But at least it shows the power ya got now!!!   LOL

I think I found the problem with the leaking tranny.  The front tranny seal was leaking do to a bad pilot shaft bearing.  The bad news is, the bad bearing ate up my input shaft.  I think when the clutch was depressed, It allowed the input shaft to move around causing the leak.  I have an input shaft on order it shoud be here in 7 days.

I've been doing a little work to the tranny while I'm waiting for the input shaft to show up...I hate waiting on the big brown truck, it's a long way to Cali.  Any way here's what I've done.  Built the SST puller, and torn down the tranny.
