Will any 79-95 gear driven t-case fit a '82 pickup?

yes and no.  there are a few variations where you'll run into problems:

'79 and '80 cases have a raised set of splines on the input shaft where the shaft would neck down on a later case.  they can be ground off to work on any tranny, though.

beware forward shift cases!  an '82 tranny is only compatible with cases with the shifter on top the t-case(rather than on the tranny).  you can buy the forward-top shift conversion kit from marlin, it's about $80 i think.

'86 and '87 turbo trucks have a 23 spline input shaft.  while it's a great strength upgrade, you need an R150F(v6) or R151F(22RTE) transmission to use them
