Chevy Spring Hangers
« on: Nov 20, 2005, 11:38:28 PM »
Hey guys and gals,
I bought a pair of 63" Chevy springs for the rear of my truck. I welded the hangers up and wanted to know what you guys thought? I believe I did a pretty good job welding. Tell me what you think.
Thanks!

That and a bit of weight and you may actually flex a little!!! Did you sell your hawgs yet? They may not fit with chevies.

I am trying to sell the hawgs, but noone around here has a rig that can accomodate the size of the hawgs I have. I am working on some tube stuff too, but it will be awhile before I really get stuff done.

Looks better than mine.
Take a BFH to the weld and see what happens.

Most of the time a ugly weld will hold better than a pretty weld

Don't look at the front, look inside and see how it penetrated.  If it were me I'd probably weld a piece over the tabs and frame for good measure.  I'd rather have overbuilt than underbuilt, cause guess when it's gonna break?

You have to buy a three-inch wide hanger with the 9/16 inch hole if you are running the 63" Chevies. I bought from a local shop, but I believe Marlin has them as well. Currently, there are some discrepancies because the width is not listed on the site, but I believe they are the same ones I have. Just give ol' Marlin Crawler a call or PM BigMike. They will help you out a lot. I believe you can get the Chevy 3" wide hangers from Sky-Manufacturing too, but not sure.

you can get the chevy swap kit from sky, but they charge 100 and something bucks....worth it??

100 kit + 100 springs = 200 for chevy swap..
