Hey - thanks for the welcome.

I'll try to get some pics up this week. It doesn't have any major modifications (yet), but everyone seems to love the pics around here.
I guess you have to have a "Before" before you get to show off the "Afters", anyway.

I'm pumped about the Toyota - I did a frame-up on a CJ5 several years back - literally bought a frame and a tub and went from there - but sold it to pay for money down and closing costs on my house (I hate this "playing grown-up" thing, it cuts into the hobby budget far too often).

I live near UNBREAKABLE and a couple of other Yota-knowledgeable folks, so I'm sure I'll be bugging them - AND the board - a lot.

Thanks again,
Grant

Hey Dawgtoy!  Yea, Brown Mountain ORV is fun - I used to ride 4wheelers there a lot and even took my Wrangler through one night several years ago...it's only 8 or 10 miles from my house.

Yodersgirl - It's an 81 and thanks, but that's the best side. It is in pretty good shape, but came from the factory White, then got painted Purple, then Blue.  I've got some work to do there, but I'm gonna start on the basic mechanicals first. I'm buying it from my best friend (he just got a nice 84 Reg Cab 4x4), so I am very familiar with the truck.  I'll be posting some pics later this week, but I don't know if it qualifies for a  "Project" post yet.

But, a fella sure can get carried away with future plans reading MCR4 and other posts...

Hi Willy Mammoth.
I'm still on dial-up at home, but got through the first two pages of your buildup thread last night.

I had a 53 CJ-3B a couple of years ago - all stock, bought it from a lady who's husband had bought the Jeep new. They had used it mostly to clear their STEEP driveway of snow and run errands in bad weather. Top Speed was 42 miles an hour, but that was down hill with a tail wind. It was a fun vehicle, but I really felt naked riding high up with no roll bar.

I found a few "Things to do Saturday Morning" on my first real drive in the truck last night. Seems I'll be needing an engine or transmission mount, need to check on getting some "round" tires, and the heater blower does not work. I can feel the heat, but I can't move it where it's needed. I love(d) my J10, but it sure was nice driving in the dark and being able to see what was happening on the dash...even the High Beam and 4WD indicator lights are still working!

I can't wait to get "real acquainted" with my new Toy this weekend.

Sorry - pics delayed. Developed a death wobble early this week - changing front wheel bearings tonight, so I'll try to get some shots posted Saturday afternoon.

I'll start a Project Post or put some shots in the Rig Gallery, but to update some of you who have asked for pics...

Well, I've been busy NOT going to Uwharrie last weekend. I was going to try it, but with the wheel bearing, battery (tray and cables), washer, etc. needing attention, I thought that I'd better have a work weekend and try a few simple runs near the house before I took off and ruined someone else's day by breaking in the middle of a trail. So instead, I went to a junkyard and scored some parts, I also scored three yellow jacket stings on my right arm (which was a real adventure as I'm very allergic and didn't have my epi kit with me - so, I am typing with one hand as I cannot see my wrist or elbow on the other arm ). Woo-Hoo!

So far, I have replaced battery tray, cables and related wiring. Replaced washer pump, seat, seatbelts, and dash pad. AND I am running the big meats - yes, I am sporting the stock steelies with some P235-75-15s. (Easy Justin, I'll get enough grief from Jake on this.) Yep, first time I have EVER gone to a SMALLER tire.

I think I'm getting the truck in pretty decent shape - priority now is trying to figure out what's going on with the heater blower - cause it ain't blowin at all. Next will be bed removal, sandblasting, and repair - and the obligatory frame repair while it's off.

Well, here's a front yard pic...and thanks for all the welcomes.
