Well, our little day run at the Bear was a success. No carnage. Beautiful day.
We ran John Bull and Holcomb trails.
Due to the trails being seriously modified by rock stackers, both rock gardens on Holcomb have little or no challenge. And the Bull, in my opinion, was wimpy.
However, All who came had a good time and some spectacular footage was missed by my co-pilot.
Troy, brought his self-built Chevy powered, 700R auto driven Cherokee, with ARB equippped, full width 44 front and 9" rear, and dropping down out of the last garden, (heading east to west), flexed his unlimited coils to the point of seperation. Front and rear axles formed the classic crossbones image. Then as he continued down, the whole vehicle stood up on the drivers front wheel, and balanced on the rocks, with the right rear 6 feet off the ground. So high you couldn't see his girlfriend sitting iin the passenger seat. And this was the Jeeps first time wheelin'.
Unfortunately, my cameraman was viewing, but not recording. Next time Henry, press record!
Jeremy " I know how to change a Birfield, I know how to do a 'Camo' and I have a Ford."
and Brian, in Jeremy's Ford powered(?) CJ, had little trouble managing the obstacles, except on the little boulder at the first Holcomb garden. Oh yeah and the tipsy little area, first right after Gatekeeper at John Bull.
Just having a little fun at your expense, Jeremy.
It was entertaining wheelin' with you, to say the least.
I have to admit, it is impressive the angle those short wheelbase Jeeps are able to maintain without floppin'.
Our other trial runner, David, had a well prepared Ranger with a SAS, running a coil sprung Dana 44?, powered by the 4.0 with headers, bobbed bed and custom rockers.
I like seeing the Rangers out there. David did a great job keeping up with Wraith, and never had a problem on any of the technical spots.
So, counting me and Wraith, we had 5 rigs, spent a day on the trail, eating dust and picking lines.
Hopefully, Henry will be able to provide some stills , maybe some footage. But, I'm not holding my breath.
