Fender Trimming
« on: Jul 17, 2005, 11:58:51 AM »
Ok so heres the deal... ive got an 86 4runner sasd 5inch susp, chevy's with dual shackles and blocks in the rear and a 2in body lft.  Id like to ditch the body lift.. and fit at least 35x12.50s.  Can i do this with minor fender trimming and no firewall trimming? Or do i need to go nuts with trimming...?  Any pics of what you've done to fit big tires would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

What kind of lift?  fron axle moved forward?  You should be able to fit 35's with fender trimming, depending on how muh you trim.

5inch All Pro SAS kit.. so its an All Pro lift kit... as far as i know the axle isnt moved forward... doesnt that require moving the steering box forward aswell?  Thanks for the quick reply.

Tires won't hit the fenders.  They might hit the firewall.

how do you make a clean cut without fawking up the paint? 85xtra that looks real nice. Did you cut the rear too?

i just used a cut off tool and that worked fine. as long as you are steady you shouldnt have to worry about the paint.

i didnt cut the rear because i have a flat bed, but i will be cutting it to put wheel wells back there...

Do your Iroks hit the firewall?  I was actually thinking about 36x13.50s if they'll fit... and i noticed that the previous owner already hammered on the firewall a bit... so maybe they will fit... im just not sure about a 13.5 wide tire.  Thanks for the info though.. and keep it coming

i havent gotten the 36 iroks yet, but i had a set of 38x12.5 TSLs on it and at full stuff they rubbed, but i think that with the 36in Iroks there will be minimal or no touching...
