Topic: Overheating issues

I have a 91 Toyota, SAS, 22re, 5.29's, 33's and a full Detroit rear.  Stock rad, thermostat, and cap.  This weekend I started overheating on the Freeway in the heat of the day.  On the trail I had to stop once to let it cool down.  On the way home in the morning, no issues what so ever.

 What are my options?  New rad? New thermostat?

check to make sure that the water level is ok, thermostat is opening and closing, fan clutch is operating corectly, your water pump belt is still there, i ran a v6 radiator in mine, a little bigger, hope this helps some

Fan is blowing, good water flow. 

 Where did you get your V6 rad from?  Any mods to install it?

should be bolt in, just gotta run different hoses. 

I know, dumb question, but did you have your A/C running?

I dont havce part numbers, but go to almost any auto parts store, they'l have something you can use

Ok, I am going to drain and refill.  Then take the truck out again in the heat of the day and see what happens.

 If all else fails, I'll go the V-6 Rad route.  Just sucks to get all of that work done and then have cooling issues.

www.Radiatorbarn.com  $111 to my door for a 3 core with lifetime warranty.  Ive had the radiator in my truck forabout 5 months and Ive never seent he gauge get over halr no matter how long Im on the rev limiter.

 Are these bolt in or do I need to do mods to get it to fit?  Are you running the aluminum rad?

Also  try a low temp  themastat   when i  did my t-chain  i installd a   20deg  lower stat in.

also a oil cool  would not hurt.

Replace the T-stat, and you can drill a hole in the body as a bypass. Be sure that there are no air bubbles in the system, as they can cause overheating as well.

for $111, cheap insurance to get the rad replaced. From what I understand, it's a bolt in job. I havn't done it myself though, so no first hand experience.
