Crank seal

Once I get to it, it just pops right out, correct?

It's been a while.  Last one I did was a Nissan 240.

Yes, the crank seal just pops outta the oil pump housing.  It's a good idea to pull the oil pump and replace the oring that seals it to the timing cover while you're there.  That way you can install the new crank seal while the oil pump housing is sitting on your workbench and get the seal installed nice and straight.  Pack the backside of the seal with a little wheelbearing grease to keep the garter spring from popping out...

I thought I just had to pull off the pulleys and balancer and the seal was right there?

I've never done one to a 22re.

it is, but so is the pump. only 5 bolts & it's off-much easier to change the seal with the pump off.
