pics of V6 3rd member vs 4cyl

does anyone have some pics of a v6 third member next to a 4 cyl?  How do you identify a V6 third from a 4 cyl?  Thanks

The v6 third (for the most part) has 4 fins on the side of it, and the 4 cyl. has three fins. The fins are physically thicker too. There are some older v6 thirds I've seen that have only three fins, but the fins are still bigger.

Here ya go.

1st pic is of the outside of the two diffs. The V6 is in the background. Note it has more ribs or fins. They're easy to distinguish when u know what to look for. What's inside is a different story....

2nd pic is a 4 cylinder diff, like a G292 (2 pinion)

3rd pic is a v6 diff, like a G294 (4 pinion). Note the turbo 4 cylinder diffs are v6 style housing, 2 pinion variety. At least the three trucks I've seen had G292 on the tag and the V6 housing. I don't think any of the turbo fours came with a G294.

You're saying that the turbo diffs come with a 2 pinion carrier? Can these turbo carriers be welded. For a welded v6 diff, we have (in the past) taken a high pinion carrier, and swapped it into a v6 diff. so that it could be welded.

The three turbo diffs I've seen were G292's (2 pinion variety). The v6 diffs can be either one - I guess. The 1990 v6 axle I bought is a G294 (4 pinion variety).

On the third pic at the bottom, is that a factory LSD carrier?  I just  picked up a V6 third member over the weekend and it looks exactly the same as the bottom pic.  Thanks.

I believe it's just the 4 pinion carrier, might be the same carrier housing Toyota used for the limited slip diffs on Supras. I'm not sure about that though. I understand some of the Hiluxes in Australia and South Africa came with LS diffs. I don't think any of the 79-95 US models did.

Marlin is the man to confirm this data with.
