2005 Toyota x-runner (tacoma)
« on: Mar 09, 2004, 06:59:26 PM »
Wow, what can I say?  I don't like the 2005 tacomas that will be available in august. :unhappy:  So I will be buying my New Tacoma before august.  I think alot of people will like it.  I thought the new tacomas looked kinda to sporty compared to the older trucks, now I love them more than I did before.  The 2005 tacomas look like one of the kids driving the honda down your street got ahold of it.  It does have some good qualities, a NEW v6 engine 4.0L 240hp.  It's dementions are bigger two, cab and wheel base.  I cant wait to get my 4x4 extra cab V6 TRD tacoma in a month or two, It has been out for a while so all the problems have been resolved and fine tuned!

Yeah here it is:
http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/xrunner/index.html
This is the X-runner, it would be like the S-runner.  It is 3" lower than the 4X4 or pre-runner will be.  It also has a added body kit.  It does look cool, but I like the 2004 better.  The best part is it will come with a 4.0L V6, supercharger available.  Stock 240HP, around 300HP w/ SC.  Also 6 speed manual tranny not sure about auto gearing.  There are many sites, I just go to a search engine and look for x-runner.

Got a question marlin, I am also considering buynig a used tacoma, a 2001, looks just like a 2004, but it had manual hubs as a option then.  Will that be hard to find?  I also wanted a sun roof does any year have a sun roof?  I want the truck fully loaded, 4x4, Chrome SR5,  extra cab, TRD, V6, and Lunar mist (silver) paint.  Not asking you to find one ofcoarse just wondering how rare this would be.

Hey Max,
good luck finding auto hubs with a loaded v6. Pretty much all the trd's come loaded including ADD, sunroof, buckets, locker,.....
Make sure it's got the locker or else it's not a trd. Some people just put the stickers on there and try to sell it as a trd. Used ones are really $$$ also.

Yeah i look for the locker and I will lay in dogshit to make sure it has bilstein shocks.  I havn't seen a sunroof on any of the tacomas around my arear, I did't ask about it yet.  The toyota site doesn't say a sunroof is an option.  Can you get a 2004 with sunroof?

LA Fred is right....
Locking hubs were only on the stripped down models.
Front Range Off Road makes a custom kit that works great, even though it is weaker than the orginal axles.

Well I am getting my new tacoma real soon.  I will just ask the dealer if I could order a tacoma with manual hubs.  They don't offer it anymore but they have the parts so maybe they will sell it to me that way.  I will have to ask about the sun roof to.  I have a 89 4runner now so I will miss the removable top, with a sunroof I can go somwhat topless!  I don't have the sunroof on my runner and that sux because I don't sit in the back so I don't get to enjoy the open roof like the rear passengers.

From what our field rep tells me, that X-Runner will pull more lateral G's on the skidpad than the new Nissan 350Z.  Now THAT is something to talk about.

Yes its ugly, but with a 240HP engine, and a 60HP supercharger option, who really cares?

I don't like toyota trucks because there FAST.  Trucks are geared lower than cars.  If I wanted a fast car I would get a Honda CRX and do an engine swap.  I like the go anywhere feel of a truck, my friends drive little sports cars, I drive a truck, we both have fun ridding along with each other, whether it is 150 mph or 15 mph in 3 ft of mud

hey

I happen to love the new truck.  I think that it is just what toyota was looking for.  I back them 100%.  They always know what they are doing and this truck is going to prove that.  Awesome looks added to awesome power are going to make this truck one of a kind.  I cant wait till I can afford to buy one of these. :driving: :twocents:

Yeah I like the  idea of the larger engine, but the whole truck is bigger.  I like tacomas becuase there small.  A tacoma can fit bettween trees and rocks offroad.  It makes it more capable of a really flexy suspention to. The new trucks are going to be nice but I like the tacoma out now better, there off-road machines.

i dunno what to say on this one ....
i mainly bought the 05 tacoma .. cuz ... i like it bigger :P
i felt crammed in my friend's older one.
ya .. its' wider .. by .. what ... 3 or 4 inches, u think u'll notice .. come on ...
and why X runner ....
look at me ... regular cab ... 6 foot bed .. 4x4 ...
and i see everyone else pick up those long arse double cabs .. w/ 4x4 ... that's so ....
dun bash on it, till you try one out off roading.
x-runner was never meant to go off-road and the V6 is available on all the 4x4s .. it actually comes standard on em. i was special when i wanted a 2.7 4 cyl and it took them 3 days to find me on and get it to where i live.
