I have had enough of the hilux being gutless off boost, so I did some research and came to the conclusion that if the engine was fed more fuel it will perform better off boost and the easiest way to archive that is to reduce the spring tension on the underside of the boost compensator diaphram , so i removed the vent plug as per toyota manual and rotated the ratchet wheel under the spring clockwise which reducer spring tension , I went 20 clicks , about 1/2 a turn which will give more fuel as manifold pressure can push the diaphram further for the same spring tension
So now it is a vast improvement , better acceleration , on and off boost , when i come home from shooting there is a hill just south of Kempton which has a steep part then flattens but still uphill then steep again to the summit, before adjustments I could manage 120kph on the flatter bit then down to 100kph at the top pedal to the metal , last time I came home I had a 6' x 4' trailer on with about 8" deep in rocks and on the 2nd steep bit i overtook a car doing 100kph ,i was at 110kph pedal to the metal , but I have now have to keep an eye on EGTs , then it climbed to 590 deg C turbo inlet whereas before it maxed at 560 , and the exhaust is still clear ie no smoke , just shows how Conservative fuel settings are on a std pump,
