Convert wiper arms to j hook
« on: Dec 24, 2020, 06:58:12 PM »
Hey guys,

I have a 1992 pickup. I really like the new beam style windshield wiper blades. Unfortunately they won't fit on my current wiper arms. Has anyone converted their wiper arms over to the modern j hook? Or maybe tried installing wiper arms from a newer vehicle to get the j hook?

Geezzz.. there's all kinds of mounting styles and adapters.

I live in AZ and wiper blades last about 6 months, then the rubber gets hard from the sun and heat.

Over the past 27 years living here I've tried just about every major brand of wiper blade.

We don't have much rain here, so I don't use the wipers very often.

The beam style is not my favorite unless its the hybrid - Why?  The early beam styles were too light weight and did not have enough pressure against the windshield, especially at freeway speeds.

The old frame style are heavier and work better for me.

The mounting thing can be a pain if you have to change it.

I'm in Colorado, so I've found that the beam style seems to handle snow and ice buildup better as there isn't really any structure to get the ice built up in. They also seem to last about a year for me, but we definitely don't  get the same type of heat you guys do down in AZ.
