... any competent mechanic should have it torn down and rebuilt in around 10-15 hours, sooner if all they do is 22r's.  A motivated/uninterrupted first time DYIer, taking their time and not running into any issues, should be able to remove and tear down a 22r over 2-3 days and take about 3-4 days to have it back in and running.

MY rebuild - time to acquire just engine block main parts....

The turn around time for the machine shop work was about 2 weeks.  Of the 3 machine shops I called, 1 quoted 3 weeks, 1 quote 4 weeks,  and 1 quoted 1 week.  The turn around time for the injector rebuild was about 8 days.  The parts from engbldr was about 7 days.

You obviously excluded that time in your "10-15 hours", right?

Of course any first time DYIer will have a fully equipped shop with a cherry picker and engine stand.  :moon:

And NO ONE I KNOW has ever rebuilt a 30-year 22 "without running into any issues"!!   :shake_head: :dunno:

Didn't mean for this thread to get off topic, just wanted to know everyone else's experiences with remanufactured motors.

Keeping a thread "on topic" on a public forum is slightly more difficult than rebuilding a 22R in 10-15 hours.

In the 10-15 hours was there any degreasing and cleaning of any parts?  :dunno:

It would seem that prep and painting would most likely be out of the question! Right?  :dunno:
