Did a front rotor and bearing job on my 90 pickup yesterday... As I was putting together the hub of the second wheel, I couldn't find the damn thrust washer that goes inside the hub before the hub nuts. So after searching around for hours it was suggested to me to use the old locking washer in its place. So now there are two locking washers in the right hub, one of them in its proper place, one of them pretending to be the thrust washer. So my question to all you Toyota vets is, how long will this rigged job hold? I needed to drive the truck home which is why I could not just leave it and find myself another thrust washer. I was doing this job in class, one of the instructors offered this solution, though he said to get a proper thrust washer in soon. I'm just wondering how bad can it be? Seems to be about the same thickness as a thrust washer, has the little tab sticking in to lock it to the spindle. Will this cause damage if I don't replace right away? I'm not against taking the hub apart again, in fact I have to already because the locking hub mechanism got bound up so my hub wouldn't come unlocked, but I was too tired to get this done at the moment. Was working on this thing all day. So I'm really just more curious here than concerned. Also I am looking to up my post count since I'm new here. Happy wheeling
