I bought a truck and somebody put the timing chain on wrong with the cam gear off 180 degrees from the crank.  What should I do?

The valves are bent, pull head fix

valves are fine, fix timing chain

valves may/may not be fine, fix timing chain and see

valves may/may not be fine, pull head and fix everything

The 22r is an interference engine. There could be damage to the valves. Pull the timing cover and put the chain on correctly, set the distributor about 8-10 degrees advance and try to start it. If your missing on one or multiple cylinders or if it wont start then its time to pull the head.
