rab a small hand held propane torch, crack the valve a little(do not ignite the propane) and run it along the intake system and vacuum lines, if the engine idles up, you have found the leak.
This is what my first thought was, had the same problem w/ my 82 a few years ago and it drove me crazy until I did this. Found a leak on the base plate @ the carb.
