I would kinda also like to her the girlfriends side to this as well, since there's always two sides of course. Example being "We are getting evicted because we didn't have enough to pay the rent this month because you bought new axels!!!"
In a case like that...yeah...you may want to rethink your priorities at this point. But from just your question...get rid of girlfriend. Find a chick into wheelin!
