I have a 85 Toyota front axle I want to put 4.88s in. 

If your still wondering how to take out the pinion ill tell you. just cause I'm feeling nice today.
To remove the pinion gear,( i assume that you have already taken out the diff).
the flange on the front side where the drive line gos into the diff. in the center of that flange theres a built.
And that's your Boy.

but do your homework so you know what your doing when you set the gears. it will go better for you in the long run.
