go to the amsoil website and order an amsoil filter. its twice the size of stock, and apparently filters really well.  Probably cant go wrong with the yota filter eiether. But I do know larger is better with filters, and you ALWAYS get what you pay for with toyota parts. I will try to dig up the part number, they changed there site and its sort of hard to navigate. Wish I could help with the noise, does sound like timing chain if it quiets down eventually. I have a reman motor and I was able to get the valves to quiet down somewhat, however they still tick away which is ok with me, the motor was 500 bucks.
