It is relatively easy to find replacement MAF sensors, car-pars.com had eleven pages worth of them.  It looks like you could pick up a good(A rating) one from an '85 for as low as $50(near bottom of page 13), lower condition ones for less. 

If you don't have to worry about smog checks in Utah, you might take it to a shop and have it tuned correctly for the mod's that you have.

Make sure to use electronic safe silicone when you seal the MAF up, otherwise the fumes will destroy the circuitry.
