By the way I think mine does better on higher octane too so there must be something to that.
It's all in your mind, the higher octane burns slower and smoother than the more volitale quicker burning low octane fuel. As long as you are not pinging then low octane is no different. I run 87 in my Ford truck with a 460 no issues.
