Shoot a Spicer joint VS a birf, whos gonna win? Definatly the Spicer joint, but id get dirty 30s or longfields if ur looking for an upgrade, they dont bind like u-joints but toyotas 30* of steering probly couldnt bind a joint if its whole reputation was at stake. basically just leave it unless you want longs or i went the TG 30's route. If your gonna spend the money get a used pair of longs for ~350-400 cuz bobby says he'll warranty out a used pair, he doesnt care. wish i knew that before i bought my dirty 30's
It is not the Joint that breaks in the kit, it is the yokes on the D-44 axles. The reason the yokes break is they have to be machined down in order to fit in the axle ball. I ran Spicer 760 X joints and never had a problem. I ran the kit for five years and every time I went out I wondered if today was the day it was going to break. I always carried a Birfield, long and short side axle, and a spindle with me. Even though I now have Longs I still carry a a Birfield, long and short side axle and I have used them.
