I dont know where people get that you loose all steering if the motor is off or the belt breaks!!! All steering valves that you buy for a offroad vehicle or any vehicle will still operate. The only difference is that you become the pump yes very hard to steer but have you ever driven a 4x4 with a locker in the front without power steering same thing! The only time you loose steering is if you loose fluid, if one of the steering hoses break it wont turn that way but it will still turn the other direction... Hydro assist is perfectly fine as long as you dont have a long travel suspension.
True, I still turn with motor off, no worse than without assist.
