I had hy-steer on mine for about 6 months (no wheeling trips) and had to pull it in part because the tie rod hit the front of the oil pan. 

That said, each swap is different.  My engine was mounted low and back on custom mounts.  I could have likely lifted it an inch or two to prevent the problems, but it was easier to simply change to standard crossover.
