I agree.  It's something to enjoy but I don't plan on someone giving me what I believe it's worth.  I built an Aluminum winch bumper thats bolted to a steel welded on bracket.  With the 8k warn I would say around 2500.  Call me crazy but it has more sentimental value I spose.  Cheers

The local fab/steel supply shop I deal with said they would have to sell my style bumpers for about $1200 to break even, and would be giving them away at $1000.  I have never clocked how long it takes me to build one either, looking at one I had in their shop they figured it would be about 10hrs/bumper which would put their labor at $1k. 

From my experience w/plate bumpers they are a lot like half doors for the hobby fabricator, it is awfully hard to get any real value for the amount of labor that is involved with producing them.
