you did pull the axles right, 
just coax it a little with a hammer just the gasket sticking
Ain't that the 'question you have t' ask.
'course I pulled the axles - all the way out, even, so they're not resting on the seals while I wrestle it.
Been tapping it, I guess just not hard enough. Suppose if I find the rubber sledge I can whale on it.
